MOdern Climatic Data Applications

摘要

Perhaps the most dramatic change in applications of climate data over the past ten to twenty years has been the increased emphasis on currency of the data, information and products. This is an artifact based on three major recent occurrences: 1) increased scientific emphasis on climate variability and change; 2) the development of modern remote sensing observational systems; and 3) the advent of the Internet and the proliferation of computers with access to it, which affords near-real-time availability of climate data and products. This paper will discuss some of the recent activities at the National Climatic Data Center (NCDC) involving modern climatic data applications.
