A continuous data protection system and method for modern applications. Said system comprises: a modern application module, the modern application module comprising a production service unit, a production service database, a production object storage gateway, a production object storage, and a production object database; a disaster recovery service module, the disaster recovery service module comprising a disaster recovery service unit, a disaster recovery service database, a disaster recovery object storage gateway, a disaster recovery object storage, and a disaster recovery object database respectively corresponding to the production service unit, the production service database, the production object storage gateway,the production object storage, and the production object database; and a data protection module, the data protection module being configured to synchronize, in real time, the production service database and the production object database with the disaster recovery service database and the disaster recovery object database, respectively.
