Biogas Production from Cattle Waste Under Solid State Conditions

In an attempt to develop a solid state biogas plant for biogas production at high solid concentration a Janta biogas plant was modified by inserting a 12" RCC pipe at the inlet side and increasing the outlet chamber to 0.85 m3. The path for waste outlet flow was made 2 feet wide for automatic flow of thick slurry. This plant fed on undiluted cattle dung can produce double amount of biogas as compared to conventional plants fed on cattle dung and water (1:1) slurry. The slurry coming out of the modified plant could be dried with in 3-4 days.
