An investigation was conducted for efficient weed management in garlic during the rabi seasons of 1998 - 99 and 1999 - 2000 at Regional Research Station, Dhaulakuan; Distt. Sirmaur, Himachal Pradesh. In all there were thirteen treatments comprising of fluchloralin, oxadiazon, pendimethalin each @ 1.0 and 1.5 kg. / ha, lower dose of each herbicide was followed by hand weeding at 40 days after sowing, hand weeding at 40 days after sowing, hand weeding at 40 & 70 days after sowing, weed free and weedy check. The investigation revealed that pre-plant application of oxadiazon @ 1.5 kg./ ha. followed by oxadiazon @ 1.0 kg. / ha. alongwith one hand weeding at 40 days after sowing and pendimethalin @ 1.5 kg. / ha. were most effective in reducing the dry weight of weeds and were economical to other treatments for getting higher yield and yield attributing of garlic crop.
