The continued development of wheat breeding and production depends on a continued supplyrnof genetic resources, including wheat and ailen wild relatives. In an attempt to transfer desirablernalien variation into wheat, hybridization of wheat with an alien species and the introduction ofrnrecombination are two essential steps. In the hybridization of wheat with Ae. tauschii, a specialrngenotype, needless to immature embryo culture in order to obtain hybrids of Ae. tauschii withrnwheat was found. The results suggest that Ae. tauschii AS60 has special gene(s) promoting thernhybrid seed development of wheat with Ae. tauschii, which could be useful for Ae. tauschii orrnother alien gene transferring into wheat. Meanwhile, it was found that bread wheat cv.rnKaixianluohanmai (KL) has a gene, ph3 on chromosome 6A, which has a promoting effect onrnhomoeologous pairing in hybrids with alien species and can be used in introduction of recombination.
