ON-SITE ASSESSMENT OF CONTAMINATED SITES: DEVELOPMENT OF FIELD SCREENING INSTRUMENTS

There are several sensor principles available for assessing contaminated sites with on-site measurements. For some of these principles sensors are commercially obtainable. The goal of this project is, to modify these sensors in a way that they can be applied on-site. For other principles new sensors are to be developed. These new sensor types are tested in the laboratory and in the field. In order to use these techniques, a new assessment strategy has to be developed as well. This assessment strategy has also to be tested at real sites. It is hoped that in the future the assessment of contaminated sites can be performed faster, more reliable and more cost effective with these techniques.
