摘要

So, you have an employee who appears to have the symptoms of the beginning stages of a cumulative trauma disorder (CTD) and it appears to be work related. You have identified likely candidates for helping to for making improvements to the workstation/task and you know from experience what you are considering will more than likely reduce the work-related stress on the employee. There is a problem, however, the employee states he/she doesn't have a physical problem, he/she doesn't want the changes, doesn't need the changes, and hopes you don't tell his/her manager. In our professional ergonomic experience we have come across hundreds of such situations. None are easy. In most cases the employee has real reasons for not wanting change. For instance, a new project is opening up and the employee wants to work on it. However, he/she is afraid that if they are identified has having health issues or needing "special" equipment they will be excluded from the project. This paper will explore ways of dealing with these types of issues and solutions we have found to work through them.
