COMPARISON OF PREDICTED AIRCRAFT NOISE LEVELS USING INM VERSIONS 4.11 AND 5.01

Conversion of INM 4.11 input files to INM 5.01 can produce noise contours and predicted noise levels whichare consistent between the two models where the basic assumptions of airtield elevation and terrain areidentical, and where the standard reference temperature of 15 degrees C (corrected for airfield elevation) isassumed. However, where the assumed temperature differs from the reference temperature, the two versionsof INM will produce different results, due to differences in the manner in which each version of the modelcorrects for temperature. INM 5.01 will predict a lower noise level than MM 4.11 at higher temperatures.
