摘要

UD-CCM has been creating design and analysis software for composite structures for more thanrntwo decades. The software is continuously upgraded to reflect new research findings as well asrnto capitalize on advances in computing technology. The existing series of individual modulesrnhas been consolidated into a single application with new functionality. The new program,rnComposite Design and Simulation (CDS) Software incorporates materials database management,rncontinuous, short fiber, LDF fiber micromechanics, thin and thick section plate mechanics,rncylinder mechanics, with common failure theories. Also included is heat transfer modelingrncapabilities with cure kinetics and additional modules for Automated Tape Placement (ATP)rnprocessing, continuous lamination and autoclave processing.rnThis paper presents some of the new features including a menu tree interface used to store allrndata and some case studies for common laminate structures. The paper also demonstrates therndesign hierarchy within CDS, where the effect of micromechanics and processing can affectrnoverall composite performance. Details regarding availability to academic institutions,rngovernment sponsors and industry are also presented.
