ANALYSIS OF SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT METHODOLOGIES TO BUILD SAFETY SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS FOR THE SATEX-II: A MEXICAN EXPERIMENTAL SATELLITE

Mexico is a country where the experience to buildrnsoftware for satellite applications is beginning. This is arndelicate situation because in the near future we willrnneed to develop software for the SATEX-Ⅱ (MexicanrnExperimental Satellite). SATEX- Ⅱ is a SOMECyTA’srnproject (the Mexican Society of Aerospace Science andrnTechnology). We have experienced applying softwarerndevelopment methodologies, like TSP (Team SoftwarernProcess) and SCRUM in other areas. Then, we analyzedrnthese methodologies and we concluded: these can bernapplied to develop software for the SATEX-Ⅱ, also, wernsupported these methodologies with SSP-05-0 Standardrnin particular with ESA PSS-05-11. Our analysis wasrnfocusing on main characteristics of each methodologyrnand how these methodologies could be used with thernESA PSS 05-0 Standards. Our outcomes, in general,rnmay be used by teams who need to build smallrnsatellites, but, in particular, these are going to be usedrnwhen we will build the on board software applicationsrnfor the SATEX-Ⅱ.
