摘要

The most important thing for transmiting cultural heritage to posterity is a rigorous and exhaustive documentation. Upon time there been many development in documentation of building by new technology. Nowadays, modern techniques have become preferable to conventional methods for purposes such as representation of the current state, determination of deformations, pathologies and preparation of measured drawing. New active photogrammetric sensor such 3D Terrestrial Laser Scanners supply much ease, precise and time-saving in measured drawing projects when compared with traditional methods. In this paper, a comparison between traditional analogue and digital passive sensor and the newest active methods is made in order to set the point of the efficiency and return of the investment in order to determine when to choose each technology. Furthermore a complete review of possibilities of building documentation, from 2D until 4D will be shown, and some indicators of how to manage them altogether in order to exploit the whole of information to support decision making on buildings.
