1. Supersonic and Hypersonic ASMs will be a threat in future battlefields2. Existing and Future Warships will need to be able to defend against this threat3. Any delay in the detection, identification, reaction or intercept chain would be deadly4. Drone based AEW provides a way to extend the organic detection radius increasing the time to react5. Achieving this will require additional data links, processing, crew, spares, fuel and hangar/maintenance space6. Future designs should have no significant issue accommodating such demands although existing ships may struggle7. These solutions need to be understood in more detail before being adopted by the next generation of warships.
