REUSE AND RECYCLING OF BUILDING MATERIALS

This contribution deals with one of the most important complications when application of recycled materials is considered. According to existing laws on European and national levels many of these materials are considered as waste. This is a legal decision based on the fact the owner wants to get rid of the materials. Because recycling can only be successful if the position of primary and secondary raw materials is equal the authors studied how to realise this. In this contribution a proposal is presented which uses equal risks for applications where all specifications (technical, environmental and health) are met. This proposal is also in accordance with recent publications and decisions of the European court. This proposal will therefore contribute to relevant applications of recycled materials.
