Linen Laundry Management System in Hospital by Using UHF-RFID

This paper presents a linen laundry management system in a hospital by using UHF-RFID system. The hardware design, installation and software management of the proposed system will be illustrated. Conventionally, the antenna in a UHF-Tag for the linen laundry application has a linear polarization. The proposed circularly polarized (CP) reader antenna is designed to solve an arbitrary orientation problem of a laundry UHF-Tag. A RFID reading performance of single, two, three and four reader antennas of the RFID gate are investigated. Moreover, the proposed software for laundry management is developed for tracking and counting of a dirty and cleaned linen at the RFID gate. Linen loss, damaged linen data and washing life-cycle of the linen for store management will be collected.
