摘要

An extension of recent work on the local–global buckling mode interaction in thin-walledrnI-section columns is presented. The results obtained from an analytical model based on variational principles,rnwhich describes the column nonlinear buckling behaviour, are compared with those yielded by finite elementrnanalyses from the commercial software ANSYS. The comparisons are good and this provides encouragement tornadvance the understanding of the complex instability phenomena associated with nonlinear modal interactions.
