HISTORICAL AERIAL PHOTOGRAPHS: THE TERRITORY OF CAERE

A wide-ranging topographical analysis of archaeological areas at risk in the national territory of Italy is currently being conducted. The areas in question have been identified by a special commission instituted at the Cultural Heritage Ministry. Amongst the research projects of the Consiglio Nazionale delle Ricerche (National Research Council), this analysis has been developed by the author of this paper, operating within the main lines of the Istituto IB AM of Lecce~1 (Institute for the Archaeological and Monumental Heritage of Lecce) in the Ufficio Sistemi Informativi Territoriali per i Beni Culturali di Roma (SIT Office of Rome for Cultural Heritage2). Consisting of archaeological analysis of areas, to be precise, this activity is linked to systematic aerial and terrestrial monitoring conducted in collaboration with the Carabinieri Helicopter Groups of Pratica di Mare and of Bari, which are coordinated by the Nucleo Tutela Patrimonio Culturale deH'Arma dei Carabinieri.
