The aim of this research was to construct a small-area response-type seismic intensity distribution and damage prediction evaluation system* using Kanagawa Prefecture as the subject area. During construction of the system, ground shaking characteristics were evaluated from soil type classification was carried out within the prefecture. Using the amplification ratios of their respective soils, an evaluation of seismic intensity (PGV: peak velocity value of seismic motion at ground surface) within the prefecture was carried out, as well as a damage evaluation by building type, and these were compiled into a damage function. Using results from the above research, a damage prediction system was prepared, with the purpose of instantly carrying out damage prediction within Kanagawa Prefecture.
