Valves are the components in a fluid flow or pressure system that regulates either the flow or the pressure of the fluid. This duty may involve stopping and starting flow, controlling flow rate, diverting flow, preventing back flow, controlling pressure, or relieving pressure. Main starting air valve is one of the main parts in the control system of diesel engines, purposed for starting main engines. Main starting valve is composed of casing, body, disc, seat and etc. In this study, the lightweight design of the body of a main starting valve was suggested, considering FSI(Fluid Structure Interaction). FSI analysis was performed using ANSYS workbench and ANSYS CFX.
