Thermal field distribution of three cases of high power bolted busbar connections - straight, angle and T-joint variants is investigated. The busbars, proposed by Asea Brown Boveri Company are shaped by one or three longitudinal slots between the bolts holes in order to decrease the contact resistance and to improve the stability of performance. Finite element (FE) models are generated to analyze the temperature distribution of the contacting busbars.
