Organoxenonium(II) salts [RXe]Y are synthesized by the reaction of XeF_2 with the corresponding organo-difluoroboranes, RBF_2. This general method was successful in case of R = aryl, alkynyl, and alkenyl. Extended to XeF_4, it allowed the synthesis of [C_6F_5XeF_2][BF4]. The reactivity of organoxenonium salts is mainly based on the electrophilic nature on the cation. Typical examples of reactivities with different types of nucleophiles (negatively charged, neutral π-and n-nucleophiles) are reported. Multinuclear NMR spectroscopic properties for [RXe]Y and [C_6F_5XeF_2][BF4] salts in acidic and basic solvents are presented and discussed.
