Vibration Analysis of a Beam with Breathing Crack under Moving Load Effect

In this paper, vibration of a simply supported beam with breathing crack under effect of constant moving load is investigated. Euler-Bernoulli beam theory has been used. An equivalent single degree of freedom model with varying stiffness that previously employed by researcher for free and force dynamic behavior of beam with breathing crack is extended to investigate effects of a moving load. Displacement of the midpoint of the beam as response of moving load is measured. Beam is simulated by a single degree of freedom model. Accuracy of the model for constant moving load problem is validating for intact beam via comparison with modal expansion theory. Then effect of moving load velocity, crack location and crack severity on dynamic response investigated by using this model. This single degree of freedom model can successively applied for dynamic response of beam with and without breathing crack under effect of constant moving load.
