A new telephone network is being constructed State-wide in Hawaii to connect underservedrnrural areas. It will provide a complete spectrum of ‘land-line’ telecommunicationrnand information services in remote areas as well as a few urban ones. Eventually itrnmay offer the added benefit of competition to the dominant land-line duopoly of thernphone company and the cable TV operator.
