Membrane electrode assemblies (MEA) for direct methanol fuel cell (DMFC) were prepared using PtRu/C (70 % Pt alloy base) and Pt/C (75 % Pt alloy base) as their anode and cathode catalysts, respectively. The anode and cathode catalyst layer were coated by using semi-automatic bar-coating method, which can prepare the catalyst layer with uniform thickness. To study the effect of Nafion contents on performance, MEA in which Nafion ionomer contents were used (20 wt.%, 35 wt.%, 40 wt.%) was fabricated. And surface and cross-section morphologies of the catalyst layers were observed by SEM. The performances and resistance of the MEAs were investigated through a single cell evaluation.
