Surface drinking water resources of Shijiazhuang play a vital role in water supply for the city,and the Hutuo River wetland which lies in protection area for surface drinking water resources make a difference in purifying water quality. The article expounded current situation of heavy metals pollution, discussed phytoremediation technology in heavy metals pollution treatment. Arsenic, mercury, chromium, Lead and cadmium are main pollutants in the Hutuo River wetland, which are steadier and not easy to be decompounded. The traditional remediation technologies are difficult and higher cost in treating heavy metals pollution, whereas the phytoremediation technology have a lot of merits, such as lower cost and no secondary pollution, and reduce effectively toxicity of heavy metals. The phytoremediation technology is significative in conserving rare wetland and water resources of Shijiazhuang.
