摘要

The study of damage and fracture mechanisms in natural fibers-reinforced thermoplastics is of prime importance to understand the mechanical properties of this variety of composite materials. It is well known that the fiber-matrix interface region is crucial to ensure excellent stress transfer between matrix and reinforcement and that it also controls the behavior of the composite when subjected to external loads. In this experimental study, the damage mechanisms of HDPE/single sisal fiber reinforced composites are investigated in tensile quasi-static mode. Two essential parameters of the materials composition were taken as main indicators, the fiber length and the quality of the fiber matrix adhesion.
