Can Bench-top testing replace testing on production printing presses?

In europe as well as North America pressure is building on the printing industry.Not only from the digitatlized prepress preparations and from digitalized on-demand printing,but also due to the expected returns of high investments in modern offset and gravure printing presses.New demands are growing,as well as for the common and most traditional properties of paper and inks.Repeatability and reproducibility in aspects of picture quality like dot gain,density,and drying of paper-ink combinations will become the color management tools for tomorrow.This presentation will discuss some additional demands and how to check their quality on a daily basis with the new generation of bench-top printability testers and accessories.
