The machine concept "Fine Grinder" combines the advantages of both, lapping and conventional fine grinding with lapping kinematics. High quality surfaces can be produced within a comparatively short time of only a few minutes depending on the input surface roughness (figure 4). Due to the separation of shape and roughness determining components high evenness can be produced. Though, kinematics is highly affecting the surface quality. Thus, a kinematics model was built in order to help evaluating the process output parameters. Experiments pointed out that cycle time, cutting speed and kinematics factor had the highest influence. Though, due to the interrelationship of those parameters further experiments are conducted by now to find proper process parameters for finishing Ck45.
