Status of Wax Mitigation Technologies in Offshore Oil Production

A challenge facing offshore oil production is wax deposition. This hasrnbeen a major issue for flow assurance in offshore fields, as it leads tornincreases in operational and remedial costs while suppressing oilrnproduction. Wax mitigation technologies including thermalrnmanagement, wax inhibitors, and pigging were investigated andrnclassified by their approach and application. The mechanism of factorsrnaffecting wax deposition, which are related to mitigation technologies,rnare also presented. Five offshore applications of these technologies arerninvestigated.
