The operation of oil fields in Bohai Sea is accompanied with pipelining for crude oil transportation from mining platforms to terminals and consumers on the shore. Most of the crude oil in the Bohai oil fields are heavy oil and contains much paraffin and sand. That is why there is hazard of oil leaks from cracks or corrosion wormholes. For planning of adequate response to oil leaks from marine pipelines, it is necessary to apply the Model to Assessment of Environmental Consequences of the Oil Leaks from Marine Pipeline (MAECOLMP) which provides to correlate the position of the oil leak on pipeline and origin of oil slick on the sea surface and evaluate the geometry of the plume formed by oil droplets, the size of oil slick, whether oil slick can reach the shore and also the carryover of oil to coastal line by wind and wave currents.
