Seismic loads induce local deformations at connections of H-shapedrnbeam to concrete filled circular tubular (circular CFT) columns.rnAlthough diaphragms are used for stiffening the connections, a hole isrninevitable in the diaphragms for concrete casting, and is likely to resultrnthe local deformations. The objective of this paper is to investigate thernstrength, deformation capacity, and failure modes of connections ofrnsteel beams to circular CFT columns by testing simple tensionrnspecimens. Furthermore, a FEM model is developed to predict thernelastic-plastic behavior of the connections with various dimensions andrnmaterial properties.
