The preliminary study of monitoring for turbid coastal watersrnusing a high-resolution satellite sensor “Term/ASTERrn(Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and ReflectionrnRadiometer)” launched in December 1999 was examined.rnASTER data, buoy data, and in-site water quality data (Searnsurface temperature: SST or chlorophyll-a concentration), thernin-situ spectral reflectance data, were also acquired inrnHiroshima Bay, brackish Lake Shinji and Lake Nakaumi inrnJapan. These satellite/in-situ spectral data and water quality datarnwere compared. Consequently, it became clear that ASTER datarnis effective in evaluating water quality for turbid coastal waters.
