Emi/Hero Filtering for EEDs

摘要

This paper discusses methods for proptecting electro-explosive devices (EED) against electromagnetic interference (EMI) and hazards of electromagnetic radiation to ordnance (HERO) threats. It addresses general threat assessment and emthodologies for design and testing. The M192 and M193 cartridges are presented as an example. These cartridges are used in fire suppression systems. Some samples were equipped with ferrite bead filters and others equipped with capacitive filters. Both were HERO tested in aircraft. The test results and design alterantives are discussed.
