This paper combines two streams of research on managers and personal values. First, a significant bodyrnof research has appeared comparing men and women at work, particularly in the role of "manager."rnSecond, substantial research has compared differences among managers across organizational settings,rnparticularly as between those in the private and public sectors. We find that values of Canadian and U.S.rnMale and female managers, as expected, are highly similar. We also find, however, that male and femalernmanagers employed in the public sector express greater differences in personal values than do male andrnfemale managers employed in the private sector.
