A quarter-scale conventional reinforced concrete bridge model was subjected tornground motions based on a 1994 Northridge, California earthquake record. Thernbridge received biaxial horizontal motions at the bases of three bents from threernseparate shake tables and was simultaneously subjected to longitudinal motions fromrnactuators attached to the abutments. This paper presents the nonlinear computerrnmodelling of the bridge using OpenSees finite element software, includingrninteraction between the bridge deck and the abutments, the in-plane rotation of thernbridge, and the corresponding transverse bent displacements. Realistic abutment gaprnopenings and localized damping values were used in the analyses.
