Mathcad? moves beyond the capabilities of spreadsheets providing solutionsrnexpressively designed to document calculations. This paper aims to present somernexamples of Mathcad? implementation of geotechnical reliability-based analysis,rnconcerning Eurocode 7 design methodology. Considering a well known classicalrncalculation retaining structure sliding model, designed in Mathcad? according tornEurocode 7, the first-order reliability method (FORM) is presented and a Mathcad?rnimplementation is performed considering correlated random variables with differentrndistribution types, by using the Rackwitz-Fiessler equivalent normal transformationrnor more efficiently an approach based on a derived simplified transformation, inrnconjunction with the Mathcad? minimize function for optimization. The appliedrnmethodologies are finally discussed and the efficiency of the Mathcad?rnimplementation is outlined.
