In perpendicular to grain (90-90) cutting direction, the fibers are not always cut, but are bent before the cutter and removed by attrition or crumbling. The aim of this study is to prediction of parallel cutting force that will cause failure in tension of the Sugar Maple wood fibers in zone I of potential failure. The calculations were done using analytical models constructed by Mckenzie, based on a double- beam representation. It seems that, the approach would be useful for future basic and practical studies, as McKenzie verified some of the predicted (calculated) results by experimentally determined values successfully.
