摘要

Those who utilize renewable energy sources such as wind and photovoltaics in their power systems need to know how power will be available in order to satisfy load demand. A steady state energy production analysis of each of three wind turbines and a photovoltaic array installed in Lowell, Massachusetts, USA, was performed to evaluate system generation patterns and load matching. Wind and photovoltaic hybrid systems are effective when used as distributed generation and demand-side management because wind and solar energy resources are both complimentary and compatible. The timing of the wind resource peak coincides with the winter peak load demand, while the solar resource peak coincides with the summer peak load demand.
