摘要

In this paper, a static synchronous series compensatorrn(SSSC) is used to study the effect of this device inrncontrolling active and reactive powers as well as dampingrnpower system oscillations in transient mode. The SSSCrnequipped with a source of energy in the DC link whichrncan supply or absorb the reactive and active power to orrnfrom the line. Simulations have been done inrnMATLAB/SIMULINK environment in a simplernhypothetical test system. Simulation results obtained forrnselected bus-2 in two machine power system shows thernefficacy of this compensator as one of the FACTS devicesrnmember in controlling power flows, achieving the desiredrnvalue for active and reactive powers, and dampingrnoscillations appropriately.
