In this paper, the long term performance of polybutylene (Basell PB 4137 Grey) and nylon 6,6 (DuPont nylon blend Zytel 42, hydrolysis resistant PA 66)) is presented. The specific loading considered is 10 years at a constant load (stress level corresponding to 0.55 MPa pressure in a tube) in hot potable water (82℃). Burst strength and creep data are reported for these polymers. Master curves for the creep compliance as a function of time for each material are derived from experimental data. A method for selecting tubing geometry based on the creep compliance data is presented.
