The propulsion device of a large system is formed by three engines. Two schemes can be selected, one is that two of the three engines assembled in series and work at the rating power. If one fails, then the cold standby will work to retain the system working. Another scheme is that three engines assembled in series and work at a decreased rating power. If one fails, then the other two work at the rating power. On the consumption that the life of engine follows Weibull distribution, this paper establishes reliability models and calculates their reliabilities, and the optimized scheme is selected through comparing their reliability curves.
