Fibroin protein /ethylene glycol diglycidyl ether (EGDE) consolidation treatment of fragile silk fabrics by spaying has been studied in this paper. It is found that the breaking strength,elongation at break and handle of the fragile silk fabrics were improved obviously with the EGDE introducing. TG results show that the decomposition temperature of the modified silk fabrics increased under the influence of EGDE. The structure of silk fabrics was investigated by FTIR and amino acid analysis. The amino acid analysis shows that EGDE exhibited a slightly higher reactivity toward tyrosine,lysine and histidine.
