In this paper, a model has been designed to estimate thernwater flows, temperatures, and the heat losses in differentrnparts of a district heating (DH) network using hourlyrnconsumption measurements. Assuming a tree-likerntopology for the network, the flow equations form anrnoverdetermined linear system that can be solved in thernleast squares (LSQ) sense. After that, the waterrntemperature and heat loss in each pipe can be formulatedrnas a linear system that can again be solved in the LSQrnsense. We illustrate the method with a small districtrnheating network based on hourly temperature and flowrnmeasurements for one week.
