Accurate prediction of inflow performance for perforated horizontal wells is of great significance to reservoir engineering and perforation design optimization. The effects of parameters on the inflow distribution and productivity of horizontal perforated wells under steady-state conditions are investigated based on a 2D finite-element reservoir/wellbore coupling model. The parameters include perforation density, perforation depth, casing diameter, well inclination, and reservoir dimension parallel to wellbore, permeability heterogeneity and formation damage. Results show that, permeability heterogeneity, formation damage and reservoir dimension are the main factors influencing the inflow performance of perforated horizontal wells under steady-state conditions. This investigation improves our knowledge to better understand flow behavior of a perforated horizontal well and provides a guide for optimizing a horizontal well completion strategy.
