This paper focuses on the performance characteristics, and recent results of portable underwate tracking ranges using radio-linked sensors (hydrophones). The recent results include deep and shallow water operations conducted in September and October 1997. These lightweight radio-linked sensors are part of a system configuration which includes differential GPS links, PC displayed range graphics (real-time and playback), and tracking sensors. NUWC Division Keyport has satisfied many needs to quickly instreument portable underwater traking in deep to shallow water test sites. These rapidly depolyed portable ranges use essentially the same system components for deep-water operation as for shallow water.
