In the present study, comparisons between computational and experimental results of motion amplitudes, phase angle, and added resistance of two modified Wigley models in waves have been made. Furthermore, the distribution of added local force as well as the time-averaged value has been analyzed. Based on this study the following conclusions can be made:rn1.The grid uncertainty of the results is lying in acceptable range and the absolute magnitude was small enough to judge that the converged solution was obtained.rn2.The added resistance of unsteady wave analysis based on measured wave from computational results showed similar tendency with experiment i.e. underestimated added resistance was obtained from the unsteady wave analysis in the resonance region because of nonlinear phenomena.rn3.The added local force is introduced to take into account the variation of surface normal vector due to the ship motion in the resonance case. The distribution of added local force in the longitudinal direction provides useful information to under-stand the added resistance in waves in more detail.
