With a rapid growth of FTTH network construction in China, more and more efforts are being put on research and development of the cable and FTTH solutions in order to meet the requirements such as convenient installation, flexible distribution, safety system and easy maintenance. Getting through the analyses of current solutions in rural China and comparing the differences between micro-tube cable, tight-buffer cable, bow-type drop cable and self-supporting drop cable on transmission performance, mechanical properties, splicing methods and installation efficiency, self-supporting drop cable is chosen as the fiber unit, and on the basis of which distributed multi-drop cable and figure-8 null cable are designed and new FTTH solutions suitable for Chinese rural areas are set up.
