The paper is composed of 2 parts, mariculture of Laminaria japonica and genetic transformation of Laminaria japonica .rnLaminaria japonica is a native of Japan, Korea and Pacific Russia. It is a cold temperate plant, living in seas with cold winter and moderate summer with seawater of generally less than 20℃ , not over 25℃ . It has been a favorite Chinese food, actually health food and shipped as a commercial commodity in great quantity from Japan to China for the last 1 000 years. In 1927 it was accidentally introduced from Japan to Dalian, China and cultivated by the Japanese. In the fortieth, Laminaria japonica was transplanted to Yantai and in 1950 to Qingdao.
