Using Standard Software for MES Solutions within a Chemical/Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Company

This article details the requirements and the IT implementation of a MES project within a chemical/pharmaceutical manufacturing company which manufactures chemical raw materials and shows that MES is the key enabler for manufacturers to execute as they want to: rapidly, reliably, and in an agile manner. The goal the manufacturing company achieved, using a customable IT product based on standard software, was to capture the production knowledge, both of what is actually happening and of what should happen and to share and access all this information via WEB. Within this project the manufacturing company filled up, via WEB, the communication's gap between the manufacturing and business planning systems and the control systems used to run equipment on the shop floor, optimised the warehouse and the batching management and traced the material across the supply chain pointing out the genealogy of each product and balancing the WIP. Here below is full described the IT architecture of the project and its WEB solution developed.
