The nodes of Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) arernlimited in power resources. In order to promise the WSNrnsurvivability and increase the network lifetime in suchrnspecial-purpose environments, various energy-efficientrnschemes have been proposed. Network lifetime is limitedrndue to the radio irregularities and fading effects inrnwireless channel. The cooperative multi-input and multioutputrn(MIMO) scheme is utilised to reduce the fadingrneffects in wireless channel. Space-Time Block Codes arerndesigned to achieve maximum diversity for a givenrnnumber of transmit and receive antennas. In radio fadingrnchannel, STBC require less transmission energy thanrnsingle-input single-output (SISO) technique for the samernBit Error Rate and can be employed practically in WSNs.rnHence this paper proposes a coalition game formation tornselect the cooperative nodes for enabling packetrntransmission using cooperative MIMO. The proposedrngame enables higher energy savings by allowing nodes torntransmit and receive information jointly. The performancernof the cooperative MIMO utilizing coalition game isrnevaluated in terms of energy consumption and packetrndelay.
