Our previous studies on cell wall formation using a regeneration system of protoplast in Candida albcans and Schizosaccharomyces pomber~(2-6)) suggest that actin cytoskeleton in yeast controls cell morphogenesis~(2,4)), especially that of the cell wall which maintains the cell shape. To determine the relevancy of actin cytoskeleton in cell wall formation, actin point-mutant (cps 8)~(7))) as uses and regeneration of protoplasts of the mutant was studied by transmission electron microscopy (TEM), and scanning electron microscopy (SEM), and fluorescence microscopy (FM) compared to the wild strain.
